Snapchat lenses are a great way to keep the app fresh, exciting, and — most of all — fun! Thankfully, you can access a whole world of lenses you can use on the app when taking photos and videos. But the best part? You can also create original lenses by yourself! Below, learn how to go about creating custom Snapchat lenses to suit all of your snapping needs.

How to create custom lenses on Snapchat

Snapchat’s Lens Studio

As an add-on to the regular Snapchat app, the platform released its second app at the end of 2017. This app, referred to as the Lens Studio, allows users to design and build their own augmented reality lenses to use on the regular app. Pretty cool, right?

This app is a bit different in the fact that it works on desktop computers rather than mobile devices. One of the neat things about it, though, is that the tools you use to create your custom lenses are similar to those Snapchat’s professionals use to create theirs.

This app was a huge release for the social media giant: A whopping 70 million users interact with Snapchat lenses on a daily basis. Now that’s a lot of dog faces and flower crowns!

Designing your own lens

So how difficult will it be for users to take advantage of this platform and create stellar lenses? Not hard at all! You don’t have to be a design whiz to do this.

The Lens Studio will conveniently include templates and guides that help individuals get started on their creation, including those for both two- and three-dimensional designs. It’s as easy as building a filter base and then tapping on items to change their shapes or other characteristics.

Once these lenses are created, users receive a unique Snapcode and Lens Link that they can share and utilize to put their lenses into action. It’s as easy — and fun — as that!
